Streetscapes as Surrogate Greenspaces During COVID-19?

In 2020, the spread of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) globally led to severe crisis, disruption and hardship in both private public life. such times distress, access urban greenspaces is essential for physical mental wellbeing. However, implemented lockdowns deprived many people freely visiting greenspaces. Inequality was apparent at global scales. Consequently, took streets outdoor activities due its easy accessibility. We, therefore, aimed study usage relevance streetscapes during a crisis. We hypothesised that supported diverse activities, functioning as surrogate distributed an online questionnaire over 400 international respondents. Our results clearly showed used this period variety which were also reported their main activity. Walking most frequent activity globally, independent from sociocultural characteristics. Other jogging cycling aligned generally with people, but differed between countries people's background. summary, more than one third respondents lower-income not having had greenspace, whereas 8% same high-income countries. highlight important role facilitating regular pandemic. Recognising spaces within residential neighbourhoods could help counteract inequality greenspace access, issue seems relevant ever before.
